Whitemarsh Memorial Park has been around since 1928 and was originally designed with the concept of only flat markers. This was intended to give the cemetery a park-like appearance.  A French architect named Paul Phillipe Chet assisted with most of the park's structures, including the entrance fountain, mall boulevards, and the Tower of Chimes.
