On Monday, April, 16 around noon there was an accident in the Strawberry Mansion section of Philadelphia on Ridge Avenue. A man who was driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a parked car. The female passenger of the stolen vehicle was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead. The male driver is in stable condition. An investigation is still being conducted and the driver is being held as a prisoner.
On Tuesday, April 17, a tanker traveling on the I-95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County overturned in the afternoon. The tanker was carrying 11,000 pounds of propane which much of leaked onto the road causing the nearby business area to be evacuated and portions of I-95 to be closed. The propane had not only leaked onto I-95 North but in the I-476 southbound ramp causing huge traffic delays in the area. The driver of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
On Tuesday, April 17, a SEPTA bus accident occurred at North 29th and Cambria Streets around 9:25 am. A bus driver suddenly lost control of his vehicle and the bus went up onto the sidewalk, crashing into two poles. Another pole came down as the wires were pulled from the accident. The bus continued to travel until it crashed through the fence of the Philadelphia Water Department’s parking lot. Three people, including the driver, were injured in the accident, and SEPTA is unsure of why the driver lost control of the bus.
