Philadelphia Metro Area Accident Report: October 11th, 2017

In this week's accident roundup, we look at several severe accidents which resulted in serious injuries and deaths in the Philadelphia region this week.

Elderly Woman Injured In NE Philadelphia DUI Accident

An 84-year-old woman was left in extremely critical condition after being struck by a motorist in the Fox Chase section of Northeast Philadelphia on Monday, October 9th. The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on the 8000 block of Pine Road.

According to police, the victim was crossing the street when she was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu. The driver then parked nearby and returned to the scene after police began investigating the accident. Police then brought him into custody for further questioning.

Philadelphia Police have now charged the 24-year-old man with Aggravated Assault while Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Assault by Motor Vehicle, and other related offenses.

4 Killed, 2 Injured In Gloucester Township Car Accident

Four people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a head-on collision in Gloucester Township, NJ on Sunday, October 8th. The accident happened near the intersection of Sicklerville Road and Dunlin Way around 5 p.m.

One of the cars drifted into the opposite lane, but police have yet to release further details as the accident is still under investigation.

Bucks County Man Killed In Industrial Work Accident

A 48-year-old Levittown man died in an industrial work accident at the U-Haul Falls Manufacturing facility in Falls Township on Friday, October 6th.

The accident happened when a heavy steel product on a table forced the table to go up and sideways into the air. When the table came back down, it pinned the man against a machine. Co-workers successfully removed the man from between the two objects because volunteer fire crews and the Morrisville Rescue Squad arrived on the scene. However, the worker succumbed to his injuries and passed away after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has been notified of the incident.

2 Injured In Hamilton Township Head-On Collision

Two drivers were injured in a head-on crash in Hamilton Township, NJ on Thursday, October 5th around 7:20 a.m.

According to police, the driver of a Chevy sedan was traveling south on Route 50 when the vehicle was struck head-on by a Hyundai SUV. Both drivers suffered moderate injuries and were trapped in their vehicles until emergency responders arrived at the scene. Volunteer firefighters, members of the Hamilton Township Rescue Squad, and AtlantiCare paramedics all worked together to remove the drivers from their vehicles.

A police investigation found that the driver of the Hyundai SUV caused the accident by crossing the center and drifting into the southbound lane. She was cited for failure to maintain a lane. The accident is still under investigation.

MEET OUR MANAGING PARTNER: BRIAN MITTMAN

“I have been working since I was 14. I have probably held at least two dozen different jobs and I’ve seen people injured and hurt. One of the reasons I got involved with disability law is that I have a very good family friend who has been disabled his entire life, and I’ve seen how he’s struggled in order to keep working and try to work. When I was presented with the opportunity to get involved with what’s called “disability law,” I was really thrilled to be able to not only practice being an attorney, but helping other people who really need to know things about what their choices are, what they can do, and what their future may hold.

I am originally from Maple Glen, PA and is a life-long Eagles fan.

I have focused on helping individuals with their workers’ compensation, social security disability and long-term disability claims, as well as obtaining financial security for individuals who have had accidents.

As part of helping workers’ and their families, I have also been active in teaching continuing legal education courses to other attorneys, provide free seminars and webinars to the public on how to protect their rights, and I am active in various organizations such as the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives, the Injured Workers’ Bar Association and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group.”
