2 People Injured In SEPTA Bus Accident In Philadelphiasepta bus in center city

Authorities are investigating a SEPTA bus accident that occurred on Tuesday, July 18th in Philadelphia. The accident occurred around 3:30 PM near the intersection of Rising Sun Ave and E. Comly Street when a SEPTA CCT vehicle rear-ended a SEPTA bus.

Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

14-Year Old Boy Loses His Leg In Philadelphia Train Accident

A 14-year old boy suffered a severed leg injury after being struck by a freight train in the Frankford section of Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 19th.

The accident occurred around 5:05 PM, when the boy attempted to jump onto a slow-moving southbound CSX train near the 3600 block of Castor Ave. He was rushed to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, and his severed leg was also transported to the hospital. The teen was unconscious when emergency responders arrived at the scene.

SEPTA's Trenton Regional Rail was temporarily shut down in both directions while police investigated the incident, but reopened by 6:30 PM.

Intoxicated Delaware County Driver Crashes Into 3 Cars

A Delaware County man and woman who were both high on multiple narcotics crashed a rental truck into three parked cars in Upper Darby on Wednesday, July 19th. The woman's 8-month and 4-year old daughters were passengers in the car during the incident. The 24-year old male driver was unable to stand when a police officer attempted to administer a field sobriety test. The mother initially refused medical treatment for herself or her daughters, until the police ordered an evaluation at a nearby hospital.

The 8-month old baby was treated for cuts and abrasions, but no other injuries were reported in the accident. The woman was charged with drug possession, endangering the welfare of children, and recklessly endangering another person. The man faces charges of DUI, driving under a suspended license, and public drunkenness.

Holding Negligent Parties Liable After An Injury

When someone acts recklessly or without proper care and another person gets injured, it's important to make sure the victim has the resources they need while recovering from the injury.  A personal injury lawsuit allows these victims to seek monetary damages from the person responsible for causing their accident. These damages can be both economic (such as medical bills, lost wages, etc.) and noneconomic (such as pain and suffering or loss of enjoyment of life).

If you or a loved one has recently been injured due to someone else's negligence, Monheit Law's personal injury lawyers can help you recover the financial compensation you need. MEET OUR MANAGING PARTNER: BRIAN MITTMAN

“I have been working since I was 14. I have probably held at least two dozen different jobs and I’ve seen people injured and hurt. One of the reasons I got involved with disability law is that I have a very good family friend who has been disabled his entire life, and I’ve seen how he’s struggled in order to keep working and try to work. When I was presented with the opportunity to get involved with what’s called “disability law,” I was really thrilled to be able to not only practice being an attorney, but helping other people who really need to know things about what their choices are, what they can do, and what their future may hold.

I am originally from Maple Glen, PA and is a life-long Eagles fan.

I have focused on helping individuals with their workers’ compensation, social security disability and long-term disability claims, as well as obtaining financial security for individuals who have had accidents.

As part of helping workers’ and their families, I have also been active in teaching continuing legal education courses to other attorneys, provide free seminars and webinars to the public on how to protect their rights, and I am active in various organizations such as the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives, the Injured Workers’ Bar Association and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group.”
