Cyclist Struck By Garbage Truck And Killed In Center City Philadelphia

A 24-year-old woman was struck and killed by a sanitation truck while riding her bicycle in Center City Philadelphia on Tuesday morning. She was traveling in the bike lane on Spruce Street when the privately-owned garbage truck turned onto 11th Street and struck the woman at around 7:25 a.m.

The victim was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital, where she died of her injuries. The truck driver stopped along 11th Street following the crash and has cooperated with investigators.

Spruce Street has a designated bicycle lane on the right-hand side, but it wasn't immediately clear if the cyclist was using that lane. The accident is still being investigated to determine if there was a traffic violation or if other charges could be filed.

On Wednesday morning, a group of protesters formed a human bike lane barrier at the site of the accident, demanding safer bike lane protections such as flexible posts or curbs.

1 Killed, 1 Injured In Bucks County Hit And Run Accident

A 19-year-old woman passed away Tuesday night after she and her boyfriend were struck in a hit-and-run in Bucks County on Monday. Bucks County Police are currently searching for the driver.

The accident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Street Road, near Philmont Avenue in Trevose. Police said the driver initially stopped and moved the two victims to the side of the road but then sped off shortly after the accident. The woman's 18-year-old boyfriend was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police are searching for a late-model two-tone maroon and tan, or gray Ford pickup with a ladder rack and ladder attached, and damage to the right-front side.

3 Injured, 1 Killed In Chester County 3-Vehicle Accident

At least three people were injured and one killed in a 3-vehicle accident in Chester County on Thanksgiving Day. The accident happened at around 3:45 p.m. near Lower Valley Road, in Atglen.

A southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck the driver's side of a second vehicle. Following the first collision, the first vehicle continued south in the northbound lane and collided with the front of a third vehicle, killing the front-seat passenger.

All three drivers were taken to local hospitals for injury treatment, along with a passenger from the third vehicle. One of the drivers died of her injuries at Lancaster General Hospital.

MEET OUR MANAGING PARTNER: BRIAN MITTMAN

“I have been working since I was 14. I have probably held at least two dozen different jobs and I’ve seen people injured and hurt. One of the reasons I got involved with disability law is that I have a very good family friend who has been disabled his entire life, and I’ve seen how he’s struggled in order to keep working and try to work. When I was presented with the opportunity to get involved with what’s called “disability law,” I was really thrilled to be able to not only practice being an attorney, but helping other people who really need to know things about what their choices are, what they can do, and what their future may hold.

I am originally from Maple Glen, PA and is a life-long Eagles fan.

I have focused on helping individuals with their workers’ compensation, social security disability and long-term disability claims, as well as obtaining financial security for individuals who have had accidents.

As part of helping workers’ and their families, I have also been active in teaching continuing legal education courses to other attorneys, provide free seminars and webinars to the public on how to protect their rights, and I am active in various organizations such as the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives, the Injured Workers’ Bar Association and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group.”
