Worker Injured In South Philadelphia Industrial Accident

A 25-year-old man was injured in an industrial work accident at the Girard Point Bridge Pier in South Philly Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened around 1:40 p.m. on the 3600 block of South 26th Street - a steel stairwell shifted and collapsed on top of the worker.

The victim is currently immobile, but still conscious. He's been treated for injuries at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but his condition is not known at this time.

Bike Lane Advocates Demonstrate After Another Cyclist Is Struck

Bike lane advocates protested for the second time in a month after another cyclist was struck by a vehicle in Center City on Friday, December 15th. The 24-year-old woman was riding in the bike lane on Pine Street when a box trucked turned from 13th Street and struck her. She was going through a green light at the time of the accident. The driver was flagged down by a witness, stopped at the scene, and has been cooperating with authorities.

This latest bicycle accident comes three weeks after another cyclist was struck and killed while riding her bike in Center City.

On Tuesday, demonstrators formed a human protective barrier on the Pine Street bike lane which stretched for three blocks. These protestors are demanded more protective barriers in Philadelphia bike lanes - only about 2.5 miles of the city's 200 miles of bike lanes currently have these barriers. May Jim Kenney has gone on record saying he wants 30 miles of protected bike lanes by 2022.

Police Find Vehicle From Fatal Chester Hit And Run

Police have found a vehicle they believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Chester on Saturday, December 16th. They're currently searching for the driver of the 2015 Volkswagen Passan, who they believe hit and killed a man named Ron Williams in the early morning hours Saturday.

The vehicle was discovered near State Route 9 and Hamburg Road in New Castle County, Delaware.

The circumstances behind how the accident occurred are still unclear. Police say that 46-year-old Williams pulled off to the side of the road just before 3 a.m., got out of his car, and was struck and killed by the hit-and-run driver. Police have been looking for surveillance video from Williams' workplace to see if he was followed after his shift.

Bicyclist Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Bucks County

Police are asking the public for help finding the driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a bicyclist dead in Bucks County on Tuesday, December 19th. Police were called to an area near Route 13 and Corson Street in Bristol at around 7:55 p.m. after a vehicle struck a male cyclist.

A silver Mercedes-Benz was traveling north on Route 13 when it struck the cyclist. The vehicle likely has significant front-end damage. Police are asking anyone with information on the accident to contact the Bristol Borough Police Department.

MEET OUR MANAGING PARTNER: BRIAN MITTMAN

“I have been working since I was 14. I have probably held at least two dozen different jobs and I’ve seen people injured and hurt. One of the reasons I got involved with disability law is that I have a very good family friend who has been disabled his entire life, and I’ve seen how he’s struggled in order to keep working and try to work. When I was presented with the opportunity to get involved with what’s called “disability law,” I was really thrilled to be able to not only practice being an attorney, but helping other people who really need to know things about what their choices are, what they can do, and what their future may hold.

I am originally from Maple Glen, PA and is a life-long Eagles fan.

I have focused on helping individuals with their workers’ compensation, social security disability and long-term disability claims, as well as obtaining financial security for individuals who have had accidents.

As part of helping workers’ and their families, I have also been active in teaching continuing legal education courses to other attorneys, provide free seminars and webinars to the public on how to protect their rights, and I am active in various organizations such as the National Organization of Social Security Claims Representatives, the Injured Workers’ Bar Association and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group.”
