At around 2:40 p.m. a semi truck collided with an SUV, pinning it against a concrete barrier on the side of the southbound lane. Emergency crews were forced to cut into the SUV to extricate those inside and a total of five people were injured, one of the victims seriously enough that they had to be airlifted to the hospital.
A 35-year-old man was tragically killed while working for a moving company who had been hired to take a safety deposit box from an old bank. While moving the large, heavy structure, the box tipped over and crushed him.
Just this past winter a police officer was helping a driver who had been involved in a car accident due to the inclement weather when another car lost control and hit the officer who was in the process of laying down flares. He was knocked unconscious and sustained several internal injuries for which he was hospitalized for.
All 14 students and the driver of a school bus were injured in a chain-reaction bus crash caused by a driver who police say was driving without a license. The accident occurred when the 46-year-old driver attempted to pass several wide-load tractor trailers on a section of road where passing wasn't legal. He then realized the school bus was coming towards him and veered into the wide-load escort vehicle, causing it to crash into the bus. He then proceeded to leave the scene of the accident although police were able to track him down and he was arrested.
At around 10:30 p.m., a 22-year-old woman was attempting to cross W. Dekalb Pike when a car traveling in the southbound lanes struck her. Although the driver stopped and administered CPR after calling 911, she died from her injuries.
In each of these cases, one party's negligence resulted in an accident which caused serious injuries or the death of someone who otherwise wouldn't have been hurt.

Two people had to be cut from a car and flown to a hospital after their car crashed into a tree on Ridge Pike. There are been no update on their condition or the cause of the accident.
A man working on a deck replacement project fell from the bridge he was working on into the creek below. Although he survived the initial fall, he was declared dead not long after arriving at the hospital.
At around 4 a.m. a pedestrian was hit by an SUV at the intersection of Main and Markley in Norristown, PA. The police were called and when they arrived, they found the victim had died and the driver had fled the scene. Police are now on the hunt for a silver SUV which will likely have damage to it's front passenger side.
An 83-year-old man died and his 81-year-old wife was rushed to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries after another driver crossed over the center line and hit their car in a head-on collision. The other driver, a 27-year-old man was flown to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police have not yet announced what caused the young man to cross the center line.
In the early hours of the morning on Friday, April 6th, a sleeping 86-year-old woman was hit by an airborne car which was being driven at 83 mph in a 40 mph zone. The driver, a 21-year-old who was high on THC, marijuana, and drunk, lost control of the vehicle and went across three yards before becoming airborne and crashing into the bedroom of the victim where she was crushed under the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
At around 3 p.m. on Township Line Road, a two car crash sent both drivers to the hospital. After rescue workers arrived on scene, they spent more than an hour working to free the driver of an SUV which was partially crushed in the accident.
Two tractor trailers and two box trucks were involved in a collision in the northbound lanes of the PA Turnpike. The crash did result in injuries and emergency crews and maintenance crews arrived to take victims to the hospital and clean up the wreckage.
At around 2:15 am, the driver of a van lost control of the vehcile and went off the road, hitting a tree head-on. All four people inside were injured, three seriously enough that they had to be flown by helicopter to the hospital. For more information on this check out ABC Action News.
