A 34-year-old driver has been arrested after he ran a stop sign near 21st and Jackson streets, hitting a minivan and causing his own vehicle to go up and over the curb where it then struck three people, a 45-year-old-man, a 40-year-old woman, and a two-year-old boy. All three were taken to Jefferson University Hospital and despite the doctor's best efforts, the mother died at the hospital from the traumatic brain injury she sustained when the car hit her. The driver, who ran on foot from the scene, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, and a DUI.
It was just a normal Wednesday at the Veolia power facility when suddenly, an industrial accident occurred. Firefighters and EMT's arrived to find that a boiler had exploded and that miraculously, only one employee sustained a work injury when he was hit by flying glass. The damage easily could have been much worse, however, a safety valve system helped to relieve the excess pressure, saving the overall structure.
A Park Ranger who was doing his job, checking the grounds of the Gloria Dei Church at around 1 a.m., was attacked by a dog being walked by a couple near the wall of the church. The dog latched onto his leg and the Ranger, unable to stop the attack, opened fire and killed the dog. He was then taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to be treated for his bite wounds.
Everyone wants to trust that the insurance they pay for each month will take care of their needs should they be involved in a car accident. However, as many accident victims can confirm, insurance companies often train their adjusters to look for ways to deny a claim or to reduce the total amount paid out. As if that wasn't enough, when the policy limits are met, payments stop.
